Columbus North has offered the boys basketball head coaching position to varsity assistant Jason Speer.  Speer has accepted the call, but it won't be official until Monday's school board meeting.

WATER WORKS
The Donner Aquatic Center will welcome 28 swim teams and 577 athletes this weekend.  The occasion is the annual Jamie Miller Invitational which will get underway at 2:30 PM Friday.

COLUMBUS EAST GIRLS TRACK AWARDS
Columbus East girls track MVP is Ivana Armstrong and captains are Alison Kocur, Abby Smith, and Jasmine Stallworth.

HONORS
The Judson Erne Columbus East Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards go to McKayla Barber and Cory McGrady.

COLLEGE BOUND
Columbus East football player Mitch Turnbow will play collegiately at DePauw.  Jay Weddle will be a candidate for the grid squad at the University of Indianapolis.

SOUTH OF THE BORDER
About a month after verbally committing to the University of Louisville, Columbus East's Kenny Crapse signed a letter of intent to attend U of L on a swim scholarship.

THREEMENDOUS
Brianna Layton of Columbus East and Rachel Steinbarger of Columbus North have been selected to play in the Indiana East-West All Star Basketball Series at New Castle Fieldhouse, Saturday, July 19th.  There will be 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A games for boys and girls.  Layton and Steinbarger will participate in the 4A contest.

MORE INKINGS
Jacqueline Sublette of Columbus North has signed a letter of intent to attend Findlay College, where she'll play golf.  Columbus North's Jillian Ayres will be playing softball at Marian College in Indianapolis.

CAGE CAMP
The Columbus East Girls Basketball Summer camp will be June 2nd - 5th. Seventh and eighth graders-to-be should report at 1:00 PM, and girls entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade are to check in at 3:00 PM.  Pick up registration forms at all elementary schools, Central and Northside Middle Schools, the Columbus East athletic office, or from coach Danny Brown.

FOOTBALL
Casey Passwater & C.J. Cook of Columbus North and Jay Weddle of Columbus East have been named to the South squad for this summer's annual North-South All-Star football game.  On the South coaching staff are Tim Bless, who will be the South's defensive coordinator, and Michael McBride of the Bull Dogs.

WATER WONDERLAND
Donner Swim Club will host the 2008 Age Group State Swim Meet in August.  The event is expected to generate an economic impact of over $600,000 to the community.
