Host:
Dave Kleinschmidt
David Harold Kleinschmidt was born and raised in Cleveland,
Ohio and its suburbs. His interest in electricity and electronics
was sparked (literally!) in the 3rd grade, when he spent many
hours conducting experiments with a 6 volt dry cell battery.
After deciding against a career as a TV repair man, Dave decided
to get a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating from
Parma Senior High School,
he attended Ohio Northern University
in Ada, Ohio, graduating
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Dave moved to California to take a job with Hughes Aircraft
Company, Ground Systems Group in Fullerton, just north of Anaheim.
He received a fellowship to attend the University
of Southern California, where he earned a Master of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in computer engineering.
Just recently, he earned an MBA at Indiana
University.
Dave started getting involved with microprocessors in the late
'70's. He became very familiar with the Apple II and CP/M machines,
the precursors of today's powerful desktop computers.
Telecommunications has always fascinated Dave, and he spent
many hours cruising computer bulletin boards, downloading the
latest software or perusing the message boards. In 1986, he started
his own BBS, the Circuit Board, and kept it running
almost continuously for over 9 1/2 years. As the internet
became popular, Dave decided that his local BBS couldn't compete
with wonders of cyberspace, so he closed it down in 1995 as he
was preparing to move to Columbus, Indiana to start a job with
Cummins Engine Company.
As you might imagine, Dave is still very interested in computers,
electronics and the internet. He spends a lot of time keeping
up with the latest developments to keep his listeners informed.
Dave can be contacted via email at ctalk@wcsiradio.com.
