   PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY DRIVE
  Kidscommons, in partnership with Love Chapel and Irwin Union Bank, kicked off their 5th annual PB & J drive to help stock the shelves of Love Chapel, a local food pantry.  Plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly can be taken to any BCSC elementary school, ABC Stewart, St. Peter's Lutheran School or Love Chapel.  Bring a plastic jar of either product to Kidscommons at 309 Washington Street in Columbus and get $1 off the regular admission price of $6. Kidscommons hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and  Sunday 1:00 - 5:00 PM. The campaign runs through May 16th. For details, call 378-3046.


EAST COLUMBUS U-M-C INDOOR YARD SALE & CAR WASH
The East Columbus United Methodist Church, 2439 Indiana Avenue, Columbus will have an Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, May 10th from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM in the church Youth Center.  There will also be a Bake Sale and a Snack Stand.  Proceeds will go to the Care Club, the childcare ministry at ECUMC.  The Mission Committee of the church will have a free (donations accepted) Car Wash on Saturday, May 10th from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the church parking lot.  For more information, call the church at 376-7418.

 

PREGNANCY CARE CENTER WALK FOR LIFE IN COLUMBUS
The Pregnancy Care Center of Bartholomew County will have their 14th Annual Walk for Life on Saturday, May 10th.  Registration will begin at 8:30 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 719 5th Street, Columbus with the 2 mile walk stepping off at 9:00 AM.  For more information or to receive a pledge form, call the Pregnancy Care Center at (812) 378-4114 or toll free at 866-510-5067. 

 

THE 10TH ANNUAL WINGS OVER MUSCATATUCK MIGRATORY BIRD FESTIVAL
 
The 10th Annual Wings Over Muscatatuck Migratory Bird Festival will be held Saturday, May 10th, at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, on Highway 50, near Seymour. Activities throughout the day include a bird walk, bird call making, bird banding, children’s activities and coloring contest, live birds of prey demonstrations, a discussion on Birding in Indiana and a birds of Antarctica discussion with Marc Webber, Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge Manager. Birdhouses made by the Crothersville High School shop class and painted by local artists will be available for purchase. For more information, call the Jackson County Visitor Center at 888-524-1914.

CELEBRITY WAITER DINNER IN SEYMOUR
On Wednesday, May 14th, the Pines Evergreen Room in Seymour will host the 7th annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner to benefit Experience Works. Registration and cocktails at 6:30 PM, and dinner at 7:00 PM. $15 per person/$125 per table. Great food, entertainment, live auction, silent auction, prizes all evening.

5TH ANNUAL ART GRUBE MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 5th Annual Art Grube Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, May 15th at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus. The event will benefit the Hoosier Trails Council Lenni Lenape District Boy Scouts of America. COL. EAST KIWANIS CLUB'S 33RD ANNUAL KIWANIS OPEN

ARMED FORCES DAY OPEN HOUSE AT ATTERBURY-BAKALAR AIR MUSEUM
The Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum at the Columbus, Indiana Municipal Airport will host an Armed Forces Day Open House on Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th.  Open House hours will be 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Sunday.  There will be displays with W. W. THE 9TH ANNUAL LAWN, GARDEN AND PATIO SHOW
The 9th annual Lawn, Garden and Patio Show, sponsored by Seymour Main Street, is from 7:00 AM - Noon on Saturday, May 17th, at the Robertson Feed Mil Parking Lot in downtown Seymour. Featured at the show is the annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, held inside Peace Lutheran Church. Proceeds will assist the Kiwanis Club in their many projects in and around the community.  All types of lawn, patio, porch and garden supplies will be displayed and sold.

AUDITION FOR DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL IN COLUMBUS
You can be a part of the Mill Race Players production of Disney's High School Musical by auditioning for roles ages 6 - 60 at the Columbus North Auditorium on Sunday, May 18th and Monday, May 19th.  Kids under the age of 13 and younger will audition for the Wildclub Chorus on Sunday at 1:00 PM .  Kids will be given a song to sing in small groups, learn a short dance routine, and take part in a short interview.  Kids age 13 and up may audition for either the Teacher Chorus or High School Aged Looking on Sunday at 3:00 PM or Monday at 6:00 PM.  The Teacher Chorus will be given a song to sing in small groups and taught a short dance.  The High School Aged Looking group need to prepare a 30 second vocal of a pop song accompanied, and read from a script.  Rehearsals will be limited to 1 or 2 nights a week, until the last week.

D-S-I SPONSORED BLOOD DRIVE AT FREE METHODIST CHURCH
Developmental Services, Inc. will sponsor a Blood Drive on Thursday, May 22nd from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at the Free Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1511 22nd Street, Columbus.   

COLUMBUS INDIANA PHILHARMONIC’S ANNUAL SALUTE! CONCERT

BCSC SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
The Bartholomew County Consolidated School Corporation is sponsoring free meals for children this summer under the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program for Children. Sites w
ill be open to the public and meals are free to children up to the age of 18. Adults can purchase lunch for $2.50. The program will begin May 27th and sites include the Foundation for Youth, 9th Street Park, Pence Street Park, and Clifty Creek, Taylorsville, Schmitt, and Parkside Elementary Schools. FREE MULCH & COMPOST LOADING AT COLUMBUS/BARTHOLOMEW  YARD WASTE SITE
You can get free mulch and compost at the Columbus/Bartholomew Yard Waste Site, 720 S. Mapleton Street, in Columbus.  Self load during regular business hours Monday - Saturday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or get your pick-up truck loaded for $10.00 on Fridays from 2:00 - 4:30 PM (Single Axle only and no businesses).  Residents must pay at the Solid Waste Management District office before loading.  For more information, call 376-2614. 

VENDORS WANTED FOR WINGS OVER MUSCATATUCK FESTIVAL
The Wings Over Muscatatuck Migratory Bird Festival is seeking vendors for the Festival, which will be held May 10 at the Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge, Seymour, Indiana.  All booths must have a wildlife theme.  Booth space is 10’ x 10’ and must be set up before 9:00 AM and remain open until 4:00 PM. The fee is $25 and those fees are waived for non-profit groups. Anyone interested in being a vendor may contact Alicia Froedge at 888-524-1914 for an application.
