It'll be a busy week of high school hoops on 10-10, WCSI!  Columbus East travels across town to Columbus North on Friday in the boys showdown, and then Terre Haute South will be at Columbus North on Saturday in boys basketball action.  Join Sam Simmermaker and Jonathan Titus starting at 6:50 PM for the pre-game show each night on 10-10, WCSI.

Tickets to the Columbus East-Columbus North girls/boys basketball games this Thursday and Friday are on sale at both athletic offices. At East, you may buy a $5 ticket to either game, any T-shirt, and a $5 Subway Gift Card for $10.

On December 19th in Memorial Gym at halftime of the Columbus East at Columbus North boys basketball game, there will be a ceremony honoring the '62-'63 & '63-'64 Bull Dog basketball teams.  Many of the players and cheerleaders plan to attend.

Anyone who played girls basketball at Columbus North High School and would like to participate in a celebration this Saturday in conjunction with the Bull Dogs' game against Terre Haute North with a tip off at 2:30 PM.  Contact coach McKee at patmckee77@aol.com.

Columbus Parks and Recreation Winter 2015 Family Guide is just off the press

.There's a heartwarming story on the internet about an 11-year old Bedford lad, suffering from cancer, who has been "adopted" by the Marian University football team. Bob Kravitz of WTHR Sports authored the piece and I'm sure you can locate it easily. The young man who set everything in motion was Marian University wide receiver and former Bull Dog Christian Williams.

Hedy George has been named to the 2015 Women's induction class of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Congratulations! Since college, she has had a 43-year continuous involvement with Columbus North athletics as a teacher, coach, assistant athletic director, athletic director, and currently serves as executive director of the Bull Dog Alumni Association.

Trevor Baty, former Columbus North pitching coach, is now tutoring moundsmen for Wynne-Wynne Situation Sports. He spent two years as pitching coach at Columbus North.

Ex-Columbus North and Purdue golfer Tyler Duncan finished 16th in the 6-round WEB.COM tour qualifying tourney with an 11-under aggregate, and insured his status on that tour for the next season.

The Brock Greiwe Benefit Auction garners over $5200.

Columbus East Running Back Markell Jones is the 2014 Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Football.  Congratulations!

Indiana Football Coaches Association Top 50 honorees include Markell Jones of Columbus East; IFCA 6A All-State: Ezra Followell & Brice McDaniel of Columbus North.

Local product James Essex is the new VP of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame's board of directors.

Columbus Youth Baseball Skills Camp for children grades K- 8 on December 22nd & 23rd, 5:00 - 7:30 PM; December 22nd at Columbus East and  December 23rd at Columbus North.

Lincoln Park receives the 2014 Outstanding Park Award from the Indiana State Director of the National Softball Association.
