Columbus East names its Columbus East varsity tourney the Columbus East Lou Giovanini Baseball Invitational.

Columbus East student/athletes to sign college letters of intent Wednesday:

Alex Cowan, football, Thomas More College; Logan Galarno, football,
Thomas More College; Thomas Smith, football, Cathage College; Maurice Dantzler, Football, Concordia College and Erin Mack, volleyball, l-U of Indianapolis.
Another Columbus North college signing day will be Wednesday at 3:30 PM in the athletic conference room.

Former Columbus East wide receiver Shane Henderson: scrimmage-high 5 catches, 129 yds. and 2 TD's in Valdosta State Spring Football game.

Local sportscaster Tom Rust will be inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters & Sportscasters Hall of Fame in Indy on Saturday.

North-South All-Star Basketball Classic at Vincennes. Girls game won by North, 114-81. Kelsey Cunningham of Columbus North 8; Tayler Goodall of Columbus North and Allyson Bunch of Columbus East 10. Cunningham played for the North, Goodall and Bunch for the South.

The Boys game went to the South, 98-91. Bryce Lienhoop of Columbus East, 6 for the North. Elliott Welmer, Columbus North, 13 for the South.

Indiana Boys All-Star Basketball Team named. Only area players on team: Sean Sellers and Bryant McIntosh of Greensburg.

Columbus North Memorial Gymnasium will host a Indiana Junior-Senior All-Star boys and girls basketball doubleheader on Wednesday, June 11th. Girls at 6:00 PM, boys at 8:00 PM; Tickets $6. The exhibition games are held annually to prepare the Senior Stars for their two-game series with Kentucky. On display from Columbus North will be Tayler Goodall, a member of the girls All-Star team, and Junior All-Stars Ali Patberg and Josh Speidel.

Congratulations to two fantastic football fellows: Dick Nyers and Bob Gaddis. The Indiana Football Hall of Fame in Richmond has announced its 2014 class of inductees, and Columbus residents Nyers and Gaddis are among the honor group.

Josh Speidel of Columbus North has been named to the Core Six group of the Indiana Junior All-Stars.
