Jennings County Prosecutor Alan Marshall is asking that ordinances introduced with the Jennings County Commissioners and North Vernon City Council, concerning ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, be tabled. Marshall says after filing the ordinances, he became aware of two bills working their way through the Indiana legislature, concerning ephedrine and pseudoephedrine.

"Since this is a short session," said Marshall,"I've asked to table our ordinances and I'm working with our legislators."

If the bills, Senate Bill 76 and House Bill 1051, become law they may address the issues in the ordinances plus establish a criminal penalty. Marshall said the prudent thing to do is to defer to the legislature, who can enact a statewide law.

He has requested that the ordinances be tabled until after the short legislative session. If the bills do not pass, Marshall will then take up the local fight again.
