A Ninevah man is lodged in the Johnson County Jail after been arrested early Sunday morning on meth-related charges.
Sgt. Andrew Barnhart, with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, says Joseph E.D. Lambert is charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug precursors.
Sgt. Barnhart says around 1:50 Sunday morning, he pulled Lambert over on State Road 44 after noticing the man driving slower than the speed limit and for having a loud exhaust as his truck was traveling on State Road 135 in Trafalgar.
After pulling him over, Barnhart noticed Lambert was nervous and appeared to be trying to come up with a story. Lambert told the deputy he was on his way to a friend’s house. Another deputy and a K-9 arrived on scene and noticed the smell of anhydrous ammonia coming from Lambert’s truck.
Barnhart asked Lambert if he had anything dangerous on him. Lambert said he had “powder” in his wallet. When asked what the powder was, Lambert told the deputy it was meth. Lambert also admitted that he was transporting anhydrous ammonia and was trying to get rid of the tank. He also told the deputy he had other chemicals involved in the manufacturing of methamphetamine in a blue bag on the passenger side floodboard. Barnhart says Lambert would not give him an answer as to why he was driving so far away from his Brown County home to get rid of the materials.
Emergency personnel were called into take care of the materials and to decontaminate Lambert. He was then charged and lodged in the county jail. His bond was doubled due to being out on bond for a prior possession of methamphetamine arrest one week ago.
