Weekend Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

A traffic stop on State Road 250 near Uniontown Sunday led to the arrest of a Jackson County couple on drug charges.

Trooper Randel Miller, with Indiana State Police in Versailles, says 53-year-old Carl D. Clark, of Seymour, was arrested for dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated-refusal.

His passenger, 37-year-old Heather R. Scott, of Crothersville, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Another passenger, a 12-year-old boy, was released to his adult brother.

Tpr. Miller says after he stopped the car for a traffic violation, he became suspicious of possible criminal activity.

A K-9 unit was called in to assist in the investigation. The K-9 picked up on the presence of drugs from within the vehicle.

A subsequent search revealed seven individual bags of crystal methamphetamine, 25 Kolonipin pills, three Xanax pills, a meth smoking pipe, and three Hydrocodone pills.

The couple was then charged and taken to the Jackson County Jail where they are currently being held without bail.
