A Johnson County woman spent the evening of July 4 behind bars after being arrested for drunk driving.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department reports that at about 10:30 p.m., a deputy was patrolling CR 500W just south of CR 800N when he noticed a vehicle repeatedly weaving off the side of the road.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, 43-year-old Robyn Smith of Bargersville. The deputy reported that he immediately smelled alcohol and noticed slurred speech coming from the driver. Smith was transporting several passengers, including six children. Smith took a series of field sobriety tests and a portable breath test, which she allegedly failed. She also reportedly submitted to a certified breath test, which registered a .23 blood alcohol content, nearly three times the legal limit. The legal limit in Indiana is .08.
Smith was arrested and was booked in the Johnson County Jail on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with endangerment.
