The Bartholomew County Solid Waste Management District is at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair again this year.
Education Coordinator Heather Siesel says the district will have a booth will be set up inside of Building #2. She adds that there will be special promotions taking place throughout the week.
On Tuesday, Siesel says they will be educating county residents about "Toxaway Wednesday's," the district's program aimed at getting hazardous materials and chemicals out of homes and garages while insuring those items stay out of the landfill.
Siesel urges parents to bring the kids to the fair on Wednesday for Kids Day. She says there is more to Kids Day than just the midway. Siesel says they will be handing out coloring books to help educate about the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" program. She adds that kids will also have the opportunity to create a kazoo out of recyclable materials.
Siesel says that you can check out the Waste Management District's Facebook page each day of the fair to learn about each day's special promotion.
Siesel adds that employees will be on hand throughout the week to educate county residents about newer programs, such as vinyl siding recycling and electronics recycling. She says that both programs save a lot of landfill space.
