The Seymour City Council voted Monday night to clean up language regarding the zoning of a former hotel site on East Tipton Street.
The site of the former Holiday Inn, and later, Quality Inn, was conditionally rezoned a few years ago from commercial to multi-family residential. The conditions included the stipulation that the hotel would be converted to house multiple apartments. Instead, the property owner had the hotel razed and the lot has since sat vacant.
While the city's attorney was of the opinion that the property's zoning reverted back to commercial with the destruction of the hotel, board members still said they wanted to remove any ambiguity for future projects at the site.
The council voted 6 to 1 to officially zone the property for commercial use.
