'Stuff The Bus' Saturday in Columbus

You are invited to help provide school supplies for low-income students in the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation.

Lyn Morgan with the Sunrise Rotary Club says Saturday's event is called "Stuff The Bus." Rotarians and members of Columbus Young Professionals will be at the Walmart on the west side of Columbus accepting donations of school supplies from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can spot the group near the store entrance. Just look for the school bus.

Morgan notes that while many children are able to start the school year with new backpacks and school supplies, others are not. "We want to help those kids get to start school on an equal footing with everyone else in the community," she said. Morgan says the program aims to serve some 2,000 children every year.

Morgan says this one day event is part of a larger overall effort called the Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program.
