Two people were injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on State Road 46 near County Road 675 West in western Bartholomew County.
Bartholomew County Chief Deputy Todd Noblitt says around 5:20 p.m., a truck hauling hay on a trailer on State Road 46 lost a bale hitting 38-year-old William Eland III of Indianapolis in the head. This caused him to lose control of the motorcycle. It came to rest after hitting a fence.
He was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His wife, 32-year-old Lindsay Eland of Indianapolis, was a passenger on the bike. She was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and then airlifted to Methodist Hospital. Noblitt says their condition is not known at this time. They were not wearing helmets when the crash happened.
Noblitt says they are currently looking for the driver of the truck because the driver may have not been aware that a bale fell off causing the accident.
If you have any information about the crash, call the sheriff's office at 812-379-1712.
