The lone suspect in the murders of four people at a Waynesville home in May won't go on trial as scheduled this week in an unrelated Brown County criminal case that has kept him in the Brown County Jail for the last two months.

The "Seymour Tribune" reports the attorney for Samuel E. Sallee has filed a motion with Brown County Circuit Judge Judith A. Stewart to schedule a change-of-plea hearing by Aug. 13 in connection with an incident that sheriff's deputies say left Sallee's brother-in-law with a red nose and welts on his neck in February.

Sallee originally entered a plea of not guilty of battery, but he and his lawyer have been trying to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors that could involve Sallee spending several additional months in jail.
