Three Injured in Crash on U.S. 50 in Jackson County

Three people were injured in an accident involving a car and tractor Wednesday night in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says around 7:50 p.m., 59-year-old Wayne VonDielingen, of Brownstown, was driving his tractor east on U.S. 50 and attempted to turn left across both lanes of traffic into a driveway at 530 East U.S. 50 when a car traveling behind him, driven by 19-year-old Paula Campos of Seymour, hit the left front of VonDielingen's tractor.

VonDielingen said he checked his mirror before he turned, but did not see Campos' car coming from behind him.

Campos' car suffered severe front end and passenger side damage after hitting the tractor. The car ran off the road and hit a Frontier utility box.

Campos was in and out of consciousness and was taken from the scene by Jackson County Ambulance to the Scheck Medical Center emergency room. She was then flown to Methodist Hospital with possible head injuries.

Her passengers, 20-year-old Katlyn Johnson of Columbus, complained that her chest hurt, and 19-year-old Jordan Wilson of Edinburgh complained that his neck and head hurt. Both were taken by personal vehicle to the hospital.

VonDielingen was not hurt, and his tractor wasn't damaged.
