Waynesville homicide suspect Samuel Sallee will spend the rest of the week in the Brown County jail after accepting a plea deal to plead guilty to misdemeanor battery in a separate case in Brown County during a court hearing Monday morning.
What happens after the 55-year-old Columbus resident finishes serving the sentence is uncertain, but he could end up in the custody of federal authorities.
Sallee, a previously convicted felon, is facing federal weapons charges for his alleged possession of a rifle. Sallee faces up 10 years in prison for the federal gun charge.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department says Sallee is the chief suspect in the May 11 murders of four people in Waynesville. In that case, all four victims were shot. One victim was also stabbed.
