The Indiana State Police honored a Jackson County woman Monday for years of service to the department.

Melissa Shields of Seymour was presented with her certificate of 25 years of service to the Indiana State Police. A press release from ISP says that Shields began her career on Aug. 29, 1988 at the Seymour Post as a Clerk-Typist. She transferred to the Versailles Post in March 2010 as a result of the merger of the Versailles and Seymour Posts.
