Johnson County Sheriff's deputies were called out to a home on Cedar Hills South Drive in Greenwood Tuesday afternoon after a woman found two sticks of dynamite in her deceased husband's personal belongings.
Officials say the woman's husband had been a member of the Indianapolis Police Department's bomb squad and they believe what she found was in fact dynamite.
One of the deputies went inside home and was directed to a back bedroom where a military ammunition can was sitting open with loose ammunition, a military initiator, matches, wire, and two sticks of dynamite taped together. One of the sticks had a hole in one end of the packaging and some of the contents had come out. The woman said she wanted the dynamite and ammunition removed.
The deputy removed most of the loose ammunition to avoid personal problems. The dynamite and ammo can was taken to the sheriff's office to be destroyed.
