The 27th annual Our Hospice Concert is this weekend at Mill Race Park in Columbus.
Sheryl Tracy, with Our Hospice, says this free concert is a huge fundraiser for the organization. In fact, it is the single largest fundraiser for the organization. She says the event started out as a "thank you" to the community in 1987. Tracy says the concert is still considered a "thank you" for the community's support.
Tracy adds that the concert has also become a Labor Day weekend tradition in Columbus. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday. The show will open with Groove Essential out of Indianapolis. Headliner Tommy James and the Shondells will take to the stage just before 9 p.m.
While the music is the highlight, Tracy adds that there will be a lot more going on that evening. During the concert, organizers will be selling the official Our Hospice Concert t-shirt, as well as raffle tickets. She says those tickets are $10 each and the winner will have an opportunity to win $10,000. Fireworks will close out the evening at the end of the concert.
Tracy says all of the money raised during this event will help provide care and services for patients and their families. You should bring your own chairs or blankets.
