The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about alleged home improvement fraud.
Sheriff Doug Cox says at least four reports have been made accusing Joseph H. Peterson and his company, Asphalt Services, of agreeing to perform residential work, accepting a down payment, then failing to return to do the work.
Peterson is also accused of selling business leads to a reputable company, then returning after the other company completed the job. He then allegedly sold seal coating services on the new pavement work, collecting fees and not performing any work.
Sheriff Cox says the alleged scams seem to be focused in the southern portion of White River Township. He adds that the Bargersville Police Department is investigating similar instances involving Peterson.
Our attempts to reach Peterson at his advertised business phone number were unsuccessful. The number is no longer in service.
Anyone with information on these alleged scams, or the whereabouts of Joseph H. Peterson, is urged to call the Johnson County Sheriff's Department at 317-736-5155.
