Seymour Community Schools trustees recently gave initial approval to next year's budgets that total $38.33 million. That an increase from current budgets of $36.67 million according to the "Seymour Tribune."
The paper reports 94 percent of the budget is made up of the general fund, which is financed by state sales tax rather than local property taxes. Funding is based on student enrollment.
The general fund is projected to increase from $26.5 million to $27.8 million. That money is used for things like teacher and staff salaries and benefits, utilities, supplies and contracted services.
Along with reviewing the budgets, trustees also looked over the school district's three-year capital projects plan and a 12-year bus replacement plan.
