Indiana State Police is investigating the death of an 8-month-old boy in Washington County.
Sgt. Jerry Goodin, with Indiana State Police in Sellersburg, says around 7 Saturday night, Leelan Crain, of Salem, was found unresponsive by his mother while Leelan was taking a nap. Leelan's mother and her boyfriend took him to St. Vincent's Hospital in Salem. Then Leelan was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where he was pronounced dead around 1:40 a.m. Sunday.
An autopsy was performed Sunday morning on Leelan at the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville. The autopsy preliminarily determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. The official and final determination of the cause of death to Leelan Crain will not be made until the autopsy results are complete which typically takes up to six weeks.
