If it seems that there has been a lot of road work taking place in Columbus this summer, you'd be right.
Mayor Kristen Brown says the city is getting as much road work done this summer as there has been in the past seven years combined.
The mayor wanted to clear up some misconceptions about portions of the work. Once concern is that the work is duplicative. She says that is not the case as some areas of roads have long, deep patches due to foundations that are buckling and disintegrating.
Brown says that issue is the result of moisture being trapped below the surface. She notes that these areas of road are having a new foundation being built, while the drainage is being addressed to better fix the problem. Brown says new drainage tiles are also being installed in the hopes of extending the life of these traffic lanes.
The mayor thanked residents for their patience, noting that once repairs are complete, residents will be happy that the work was done.
