A missing 3-year-old Scott County boy taken by his mother after a custodial visit last month has been found.
Indiana State Police in Sellersburg say Aedan Daehnke, of Austin, was found with his mother, Amie Sandlin, in the county of Mexico about 30 miles south of Tijuana Wednesday afternoon.
Mexican authorities along with the United States Marshall’s Office Fugitive Task Force from San Diego took Sandlin into custody and she was extradited back to the United States. Aedan was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services of California awaiting the arrival of his father to take custody of him.
Sandlin will be extradited from San Diego to Scott County.
After Aedan was reported missing, a felony warrant for custodial interference - two counts - and escape were issued for Sandlin on Aug. 15. The warrants were issued out of the Scott County after she failed to return Aedan to his father.
Aedan had not been seen or heard from since his abduction on Aug. 11. He was listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Website and after several tips and days of nonstop investigation, Aedan and Sandlin were located.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshall’s Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force working in conjunction with the Indiana State Police and the Austin City Police Department to find the boy.
Also assisting in the investigation was the New Albany City Police Department and the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office.
This investigation is continuing.
