'UnCommon Cause' Set for Oct. 26

The Columbus Area Arts Council is putting on its annual "UnCommon Cause" event Oct. 26.

Umar Farooq sits on the Arts Council Board of Directors and also serves as a co-chair, along with his wife, Nida, of this year's UnCommon Cause event. UnCommon Cause is the largest annual fundraiser for the Columbus Area Arts Council.

This year's event has a Bollywood theme. Called "Bollywood: The Sites and Sounds of India," this event is a black-tie affair, but you are encouraged to wear Indian-inspired outfits. The Farooqs say the evening is completely Indian-inspired, from the decor to the food.

Farooq says there will be plenty of excitement at this year's event. He specifically mentions the auction, which includes a number of great donated items from local community members and businesses. The most valuable item up for auction that evening will be a trip to India.

A table for eight can be purchased for $1,000. Individual seats cost $125. The reservation deadline is Oct. 18. You can purchase your seats online at www.uncommoncauseauction.org.
