A Columbus man accused of drug dealing and child neglect in the case of a deceased toddler has a new attorney.
Bartholomew Circuit Court Judge Stephen Heimann appointed a new defense lawyer for 31-year-old Thomas W. Gorski during a hearing Tuesday.
Gorski was arrested after the investigation into the death of his girlfriend's toddler at the home they shared in the Candlelight Village mobile home park. Evan McCue died last November after sustaining a head injury. He was 19-months old.
Gorski's court-appointed attorney was Aaron Edwards of Columbus. He has been replaced by his father, Don Edwards, also of Columbus. Heimann ordered the switch after agreeing to a motion filed by the younger Edwards to withdraw as defense counsel.
Gorski's trial is scheduled to start Oct. 22 at 8:30 a.m.
