This is a big weekend in Columbus with the inaugural Mill Race Marathon taking place Saturday morning.
Kurt Swartz is an organizer for the pre and post-marathon events. He says the fun kicks off Friday afternoon on Fourth Street with a zip line, live music and beer garden. Swartz adds that downtown eateries will also be taking part in the fun by offering special menu items with high carbohydrate counts.
Fellow organizer Steve Leach says the good times will continue once the marathon comes to an end. "Saturday's gonna' be a great day," said Leach. He says the fun resumes on Fourth Street at 11 a.m. with live music that runs until 10 p.m. Other activities for Saturday include the zip line, a rock climbing wall and a new truck giveaway.
Runners, spectators and members of the community are encouraged to take part in the fun.
