October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A special event is taking place Tuesday in Columbus that is aimed at honoring the men of the community that work to end domestic violence.
Kelly Benjamin, with the Domestic Violence Action Team, says this event is called "Men Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence." She says this event will begin at 11:50 a.m. near Fifth and Washington Streets. Attendees will gather behind a banner, then walk to City Hall.
The gathering is scheduled to reach the steps of City Hall at 12:10 p.m. At that time, the men in attendance will be called out by name for recognition.
Benjamin says those men who know they will be in attendance should call her at 344-7858 with their name and place of employment. If you want to attend, but don't know if you will be able to make it until the day of the event, you are still encouraged to attend. Benjamin says those men who did not register in advance will still be recognized.
