The Orphan Grain Train will be holding its banquet and fundraiser Oct. 6 at the Clarion Hotel in Columbus.

Spokesperson Gene Ernst says the invitation only event will feature a meal and envelopes will be provided to make your donation to the organization that reaches out to needy people needing food and other items.

Ernst says the administrative cost for Orphan Grain Train is 3 percent, and according to officials at the annual meeting held recently in Norfolk, Nebraska, there were over $22 million worth of items that were handled last year. He says they do have costs when it comes to fuel to go pick things up, but everything thing else the group does is volunteered.

If you would like to attend the banquet and fundraiser, call 812-579-6884.
