Remains Located in Jackson County Are Not Human

Indiana State Police say what police thought were human remains found in Jackson County Wednesday night have turned out not to be human at all.

Sgt. Noel Houze, with Indiana State Police in Versailles, says a forensic anthropologist examined the remains and determined that they weren't human, but are believed to be that of a bear. It's unknown at this time how the remains got there.

State troopers and Jackson County Sheriff's deputies found the remains around 7:30 p.m. in a ditch along County Road 400 N.
