A Scott County woman was arrested for violating sex offender registration laws.

Sgt. Jerry Goodin, with the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg, says that just after 1 p.m. Thursday, troopers and an Austin Police officer arrested 43-year-old Mary Whitfill of Austin. She was arrested after the Superior Court in Scott County issued an arrest warrant for failing to properly register as a sex offender.

A month long investigation by ISP Detective Brian Busick led to the charge. It is alleged that Whitfill was staying at two different residences in Austin, but only registered one of the addresses in the sexual offender registry.

Whitfill was booked in the Scott County Jail.
