The March of Dimes is joining once again with area Circle K convenience stores for the "Pick a Pumpkin" campaign.

Tim Arndt, with the March of Dimes, explains that one in eight babies are born prematurely. He adds that this campaign is an easy way for you to help fight birth defects in babies. Arndt says you can help by purchasing a paper pumpkin, for either $5 or $10, from any area Circle K. He says that 100 percent of the funds raised will go to fight premature births.

Arndt gives a lot of credit to Circle K, particularly the clerks who "ask everybody, everyday, for 20 days to buy a paper pumpkin." He also credits White River Broadcasting, and the company's many radio personalities and other staff members, for the their involvement in this effort over the past 18 years.

The March of Dimes 2013 "Pick a Pumpkin" campaign began Friday and continues through Oct. 30.
