Five North Vernon residents were arrested on drug charges early Friday morning after Jennings County deputies responded to a theft complaint at a home located in the 6400 block of Hickory Hills Drive in Hayden.
Maj. Jerry Shepherd, with the Jennings County Sheriff's Office, says 23-year-old Kevin V. Swindall, 29-year-old James R. Hanna and 26-year-old Jessica A. Fisette were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia while 21-year-old Shey M. Richardson and 21-year-old Caitlin E. Barlow were charged with possession of syringe, possession of paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance.
Shepherd says around 2 a.m., deputies went to the home and after further investigation obtained a search warrant. They found during the search numerous items used in the making and consumption of meth. Deputies then arrested the five people mentioned and took them to the Jennings County Jail. Deputies also found a five-year-old child in the home at the time of the arrest. Child Protective Services was called to the scene for the child. Members of the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Unit were also called to the home to process and remove items located by investigators.
