A 10-month investigation into the sale of prescription drugs in Jennings County ended with two arrests Monday.
Maj. Jerry Shepherd of the Jennings County Sheriff's Department, says the initial investigation began in January. He says it focused on the illegal sales of morphine and other prescription medications.
Residents in the 200 block of Fourth Street in North Vernon had complained to the Jennings County Sheriff's Office about possible illegal drug activity at an apartment house located at 218 Fourth St. As a result of this investigation, Shepherd says officers were able to conduct numerous controlled purchases of the drugs from the apartment that resulted in arrest of two people living there.
Arrested were 57-year-old Terry D. Knight and 48-year-old Debbie L. Knight. Terry Knight is facing three counts of dealing in a controlled substance. Bond was set at $80,055. Debbie Knight is facing one charge of dealing in a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $40,055. Both were booked in the Jennings County Jail.
Shepherd says additional arrests are expected.
