The Columbus Redevelopment Commission Monday night opened proposals for the site inside The Commons formerly utilized by Scotty's Burger Joint.
The commission opened a total of four offers to utilize the space, which consists of 5,511 square feet. The specifics of each offer could not be released during the meeting. Attorney Stan Gamso did release the following information regarding the bidders:
Tropical Smoothie Cafe - An establishment similar to the 25th Street location that would make use of 2,800 square feet.
Jordy McTaggeter's Grill & Pub - A Irish and British style pub that would employ 70 to 80 people and utilize the entire space.
Commons Coffee Bar - A high-end coffee bar that would utilize 1,384 square feet.
Arnie's Restaurant - Based in Indianapolis, the business would utilize the entire space.
Redevelopment Director Heather Pope says the next step is for the Tenant Selection Committee to go over these bids and offer to meet with each bidder. The bid discussion is scheduled to take place on Monday with plans to speak with each bidder on Oct. 30. Pope says the committee will hopefully make its recommendation shortly after speaking with the bidders.
Once the Tenant Selection Committee makes its recommendation, the Redevelopment Commission will meet to discuss the recommendation. If commission members approve, the final step is for the city council to make a decision.
