Work on getting student housing built on property owned by the Columbus Municipal Airport, located near IUPUC and Ivy Tech, is moving along.

Airport Director Brian Payne says progress is moving slower than what he, and many other interested parties, would like. He says the FAA is taking their time approving the project, as this is a new endeavor for the airport.

"This is a very unique situation, and one that the FAA has looked upon very heavily," said Payne. He says progress has increased since he met with FAA officials, face-to-face, in early October.

Payne says he expects groundbreaking will take place in early December. Assuming there will be no further delays, he anticipates this housing will be available for students in August.
