The U.S. Highway 50 bypass project near North Vernon will tie-up traffic again on Monday.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to stop all traffic on U.S. Highway 50 Monday evening at the Storm Creek bridge construction site while crews off-load pre-cast concrete beams from transports and set them in position on bridge piers. Motorists at the site, located two miles east of Seymour, will be delayed 15 to 20 minutes each time a beam is set.
There are four beams. However, the beams will not all be set at the same time.
Force Construction, the state's contractor, will begin off-loading the beams at 6 p.m. The work is expected to be completed in approximately two hours.
Single-lane traffic controlled by temporary signals restricts motorists crossing Storm Creek to the newly constructed north side of the bridge. Force Construction is currently rebuilding the south half of the structure.
INDOT says another set of concrete beams, to be placed across a third span, will be delivered later with deck pans. Once installed, the concrete bridge deck can be poured.
