Authorities in Johnson County are investigating an alleged stabbing that took place early Tuesday morning in Whiteland.
Sheriff Doug Cox says around 2:20 a.m., Deputy Joseph Schmidt was called to a camper located at 5362 N. County Road 300 East after getting a report about the stabbing. When Deputy Schmidt arrived, he spoke with 41-year-old James Johnston of New Whiteland. Johnston had a small half-inch stab wound on his upper left peck muscle. Johnston told the deputy that two guys allegedly busted into his trailer and stabbed him while he was lying down on a couch. Johnston admitted to the deputy he knew who the men were, but wasn't going to tell the deputy and that he was going to take care of it himself.
Johnston was treated by medics and taken by ambulance to Wishard Hospital. The deputy followed Johnston to the hospital where he spoke with him further. He would not give the deputy the names of the men who stabbed him. The only information the deputy could get from Johnston was that he had been at Austin's Bar and Grill in Franklin and some sort of argument happened there. Johnston said some threats were made, but he didn't take it seriously. Johnston said he came home and was laying down watch TV. Johnston said he didn't want the incident investigated and that he would take care of it his way.
The sheriff's office continues to investigate.
