The area experienced some severe storms Sunday afternoon that led to a few watches and warnings being issued.
In Bartholomew County, US 31 South at County Road 800 South in the Azalia area was shut down for a short time due to downed power lines. Maj. Todd Noblitt, with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, says if you find more power lines that are down, you should not touch them. He says you need to call the sheriff’s office or the fire department so they can take care of the matter.
Numerous trees were also reported down. No injuries were reported.
Power outages were reported in Hope and Taylorsville.
Some signs were blown down on I-65 leading to traffic being reduced to one lane until INDOT could arrive to remove the signs.
Shelters were also open for those living in mobile homes at Columbus North, Hauser High School, Taylorsville Elementary and Southside Elementary.
In Jackson County, dispatchers reported trees down.
In Jennings County, there were sporadic reports of damage with some power lines down. A shelter was also open at the Country Squire Lakes clubhouse.
