The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is underway.
Jody Sladek is with the Columbus Salvation Army. She says this year's campaign began last weekend and runs through Christmas Eve. Sladek says this year's goal is $100,000. She noted that this was also last year's goal, but they fell short by about $25,000. She went on to say that while this is traditionally the season of giving, the season of need is year-round. Sladek noted the importance of the red kettle campaign, stating "our funds for the whole year is supported by our red kettle campaign." "It's important for us to fill these kettles," she said.
Sladek adds that if you cannot donate money, you can still help by donating your time. She says the Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers to help ring bells at the 24 different locations they are set up throughout the city. Sladek is asking you to consider donating just two hours of your time to help the less fortunate in our area.
For more information, or to volunteer, call the Columbus Salvation Army at 372-7118. You can also sign up to help through the Salvation Army's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ColumbusSalvationArmy.
