The Centra Foundation, the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union, is working on an effort to help less fortunate children in areas served by the credit union to have a nice Christmas.
Lyn Morgan, with Centra, says the need for assistance is great. "Last year, there were 2,800 kids that were helped through holiday programs here in Bartholomew County," Morgan said. She stressed that this issue exists in all Indiana counties.
Morgan says in Bartholomew County, Centra branches will have Christmas Trees dedicated with Salvation Army Angel Tree tags. When members stop by a branch, they can donate any amount of money. She says that money will then go to the Salvation Army, where their volunteers will purchase gifts for needy children.
Morgan says things are a bit different in Seymour. There, she says that Centra is working with the Fraternal Order of Police to help those kids in need.
This program began Monday and runs through Dec. 14.
