Philharmonic to Celebrate Holidays

The Columbus Indiana Philharmonic is putting on a special event to mark the holiday season.

This will take place during two shows on Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Judson Erne Auditorium on the campus of Columbus North High School. Show times are 3 and 7 p.m.

The Philharmonic will perform holiday classics, as well as new songs, according to CIP Marketing and Communications Specialist Chris Gordon. He says that the orchestra will be joined by guest artists Neil Jones and Lisa Beutler-Jones. Both are Columbus residents and graduates of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.

The Philharmonic's Children's Choirs will also perform with the orchestra. Gordon says the choirs include over 120 children in grades 4 through 8 from Columbus and surrounding communities.

Additional festivities include a special appearance by Santa Claus, who will be available for pictures in the lobby before the concert and during intermission. Also, Harry McCawley, the Associate Editor at "The Republic," will conduct one of the holiday pieces.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.thecip.org or by calling the box office at 812-376-2638, ext. 110.
