A Columbus man was injured when the gun he was firing jammed.
Our news gathering partners at "The Republic" report 31-year-old John Darlage, of Gladstone Avenue, was with a group of friends Saturday afternoon who were taking turns firing a .50-caliber, single-shot bolt action rifle. According to the story, a round became lodged in the chamber and jammed the bolt as Darlage attempted to fire a shot. The round exploded, injuring him.
The story reports that Darlage was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, and then transfered to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for hand surgery. He was also treated for facial injuries caused by the shrapnel. Darlage's injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
