A three-vehicle crash in Decatur County sent four people to the hospital late Friday morning, two with critical injuries.
Indiana State Police say that just before 10 a.m., a minivan driven by 48-year-old Barbara Niese, of Rushville, was southbound on U.S. 421 at the State Road 3 Bypass in Greensburg. A semi tractor pulling a box trailer driven by 53-year-old Danny Williams, of Russellville, KY, was northbound on State Road 3. Investigators believe Niese's van disregarded the traffic light and was struck broadside by the semi. After the impact, the semi pushed the van into a pickup truck driven by 63-year-old John Marlow, of Greensburg.
Niese and her daughter, 13-year-old Sarah Niese, suffered critical injuries. Barbara Niese was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and Sarah Niese was transported to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis with life-threatening injuries. Marlow and his wife, Jo Anne Marlow, were both transported to Decatur County Hospital in Greensburg with non life-threatening injuries. Williams was not injured.
ISP Public Information Officer Sgt. Noel Houze says this crash, with remains under investigation, occurred less than a quarter mile from Thursday's fatal crash at State Road 3 and Carver Street in Greensburg.
