The Bartholomew County Council will make a decision on what to do about the county's health insurance fund.
The Bartholomew County Auditor's Office says a slew of illnesses and unexpected health care costs have put the fund in the red. Many of these expenses have occurred over a short period of time, said Auditor's Office Chief Deputy Sandy Beatty. She says that many of these bills have yet to be paid, so the office will ask the council to take $250,000 from the county's "rainy-day" fund to shore up the health insurance fund.
The Bartholomew County Council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the fourth floor of the government office building in downtown Columbus. You are encouraged to attend.
