The Columbus City Council agreed to a lease for the space inside The Commons that was formerly utilized by Scotty's Burger Joint.
The council voted during a special Monday night meeting to approve a 10-year lease with Jordy McTaggeter's Grill & Pub, an Irish and British style pub that would employ 70 to 80 people and utilize the entire 5,500-plus square foot space. The first five years of the lease will have the business, located at 310 Washington St., paying $60,000 per year. The second half of the lease will have the business paying $63,000 annually.
Mayor Kristen Brown says she was pleased with the agreement. She credited the business, the city's Redevelopment Commission and broker for getting this deal done in a timely fashion. "This process could have easily stretched out in to February," Mayor Brown said.
Representatives for Jordy McTaggeter's have said recently that once the lease is signed, they would need around 120 days to get the pub up and running. They said that they would love for the business to be open by St. Patrick's Day.
