Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a death that happened at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge late Wednesday evening.
Officials say 45-year-old Jeff Rottet, of Huntingburg, was deer hunting when he died of what appears to be medical complications.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m., conservation officers, along with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Jackson County EMS, responded to the Refuge, outside of Seymour. Rottet, who had been hunting separately, was to reunite with a group of hunters, but failed to return to their vehicle.
Rottet was located unresponsive by his friends, and subsequently transported from the woods by EMS personnel. An autopsy is scheduled for today at Schneck Medical Center.
No foul play is suspected. The incident is still under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.
