A 16-year-old boy was hit by a car as he was crossing the crosswalk at Center Grove Middle School in Greenwood Thursday.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says around 7:15 a.m., a car driven by 59-year-old Teresa J. Mullis, of Bargersville, was traveling east on Stones Crossing Road when she hit the boy, Logan T. Nixon of Greenwood, as she was attempting to make a left turn into the school parking lot.
A witness, Pamela Harris of Greenwood, told police that she was stopped in traffic at the crosswalk when she saw Mullis making the left turn. Harris said that Mullis did not come to a stop when she was attempting to turn and struck Nixon as he was walking. Harris added that she saw Nixon flip over the hood and land on the ground. She said that Nixon laid on the ground for a few seconds, then got up and began to walk to the side of the road.
Medics came and checked on Nixon. He appeared to be okay.
Mullis was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
