A North Vernon man is lodged in the Jennings County Jail after allegedly forcing his way into several homes in Country Squire Lakes Wednesday, then yelling at residents for no apparent reason.
Sgt. Noel Houze, with Indiana State Police in Versailles, says 20-year-old Levi Hawkins is facing multiple counts of invasion of privacy and resisting law enforcement.
Houze says the Jennings County Sheriff's Department received 911 calls about what Hawkins was doing around noon Wednesday. When the last call came in, a caller said Hawkins was threatening children in a home located in the 3000 block of Cliffshire Drive.
Trooper Randel Miller was close by and responded. When he got there, he noticed Hawkins with no shoes or socks on walking nearby. According the Tpr. Miller, the man had a blank stare in his eyes and seemed very agitated. Tpr. Miller confronted the man and at first the man complied with Tpr. Miller's requests then began to resist. Tpr. Miller deployed his taser and brought Hawkins under control where he was then taken into custody.
Hawkins was treated at the scene for minor injuries that resulted from the incident then transported to the Jennings County Jail. Tpr. Miller was assisted at the scene by Jennings County Dputies Anthony Mayberry and Alan Ritchie.
