A Bartholomew County man was arrested after a short police chase Wednesday.
Our news gathering partners at "The Republic" report that 24-year-old Travis Mitchell, of County Road 700 West, jumped from a car he was driving near Seventh and Sycamore Streets after an officer attempted a traffic stop.
According to the report, Mitchell had a pair of outstanding warrants from Bartholomew Superior Court for driving while suspended and failure to appear. When he saw the police car, Mitchell apparently panicked and leaped from the vehicle. Officers caught him moments later. The paper reports that the officer simply wanted to notify Mitchell that his license plate light was burned out.
Mitchell's passenger was able to stop the car before anyone was hurt.
