A three vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Jennings County sent seven people to the hospital.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Noel Houze says shortly before 3 p.m., a car driven by 85-year-old Hershell Cook, of North Vernon, was stopped on westbound U.S. 50 awaiting traffic to clear to make a left turn onto County Road 240 West when an SUV driven by 23-year-old Peggy Ramirez, also of North Vernon, struck the rear of Cook's vehicle. The impact sent the car into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a pickup truck driven by 69-year-old Ronald Seibert, of Batesville.
All three drivers and four passengers were initially transported to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. Cook suffered a serious head injury. He was ultimately transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Ronald Seibert for a broken knee cap
Peggy Ramirez for complaint of chest pain
Morgan Ritchie, age 18 of North Vernon, for compliant of chest pain
Debra Kutz, age 17 of North Vernon, for complaint of chest pain
Grayson Bartlett, age 7 months of North Vernon, transported as a precaution (no obvious injuries)
The crash remains under investigation. Houze says that neither alcohol nor drugs is suspected as being a factor in the crash.
